how it started …
When people ask me how I got into singing opera, I always say, “Opera found me.”
Opera found me in an episode of Hey Arnold with Helga G. Pataki going on a field trip to an opera house.
Opera found me during my senior year of high school with my first voice teacher, Ms. Hinkle, who told me, “you’ve got what it takes kid.”
Opera found me curious, during my freshman year of college, attending an opera scenes concert in the pouring rain, dreading my 8AM pre-med lectures the next morning…
Opera found me as a graduate vocal performance major, during the global COVID-19 pandemic, pondering what would happen next with my journey…
…. how it’s going!
After completing my graduate degree in Vocal Performance, in the Spring of 2021, my journey was just beginning. The last five years have been a rollercoaster: highs, lows, and A LOT of waiting. But, in that I gained a village of supporters through coaches, conductors, directors, family, friends, mentors, voice teachers, and people like YOU!
I cannot express enough gratitude for the last five years, and I have faith the next five (and more) will be incredible!
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
